Anaya Chunn-McCombs

Hello, I would like to introduce myself. My name is Anaya Chunn-McCombs. Can I ask you a question? Have you ever felt so much pressure from life in general and perceived that no one heard you or understood the heightened level of stress you are experiencing? So, let me tell you a secret, come closer, “everyone feels this way occasionally in their life or possibly daily”. Now the most important thing is how you handle this level of stress in a healthy manner. 

                    Here is the good news, I am a therapist, and I would like to work with you. I have been working with children and families for over 2 decades now. I enjoy meeting with people as we partner to achieve our highest level of success and each person’s map is quite different. The focus of every session is to get you closer to identifying all those wonderful qualities you have and connect them to managing emotions in an environment or space geared to lighten the load by learning effective strategies. I have worked with individuals diagnosed with depression, anxiety, and mood disorders. My overall goal is to get to know you and provide a Strengths-Based setting where we will identify the source of the dilemma and explore tools to address these stressors.

                I have a plethora of clinical experience. I worked in multiple mental health clinics, hospitals, and community-based programs. As a social worker and clinical consultant, I worked in a psychiatric unit, detox, and on medical triage division of hospitals. I have been afforded the opportunity to work with children as young as five years old to seniors. Being a therapist has been a rewarding experience that has allowed me to learn and enhance my clinical skill set. In addition, I have witnessed the gradual and successful position of change and the nonverbal communication that is connected to it such as smiles hugs, and excitement. Change starts with doing something different!
