Your Worth Is Not Up for Negotiation

You can say, “I know my worth,” and still find yourself overgiving, minimizing your needs, or waiting for someone else to recognize your value.

Many of us learned to feel worthy by being helpful, agreeable, or strong. We became the dependable one, sometimes forgetting that we deserve care even when we have nothing left to give.

Being overlooked or rejected can hurt, but someone else’s response does not determine your value. You can reflect on your choices and take responsibility without questioning whether you deserve respect.

Self-worth takes shape in everyday decisions: resting when you are tired, asking for support, expressing your needs, and setting boundaries even when someone is disappointed. These choices can feel uncomfortable when you are used to putting yourself last. You can practice them while you build confidence.

Ask yourself: Where am I acting as though my needs matter less than everyone else’s?

Start there. Make one choice that gives your well-being the consideration it deserves. You can keep growing while treating yourself with kindness today.
