The Father Wound: How It Shows Up in Adult Relationships

The father wound isn’t always about a father being absent. Sometimes it comes from emotional distance, inconsistency, criticism, lack of protection, or simply not feeling chosen. And even when we grow up, that wound can quietly follow us into adult relationships.

In The Inner Circle, we recently talked about how this wound shows up in patterns. It may look like over-functioning in relationships— always being the one who gives more, fixes more, understands more, and asks for less. It may look like being drawn to emotionally unavailable people, struggling to trust love, or having a hard time speaking up for your needs because somewhere along the way, you learned that your needs were “too much.” Healing begins with noticing without judgment. Ask yourself: What did I need then that I may still be searching for now? The goal isn’t to stay in blame. The goal is to understand the imprint so you can begin to choose differently.
Love should not keep activating old survival strategies. Love can feel steady, safe, and mutual. Join us every Tuesday at 7 PM for The Inner Circle, where we explore topics like these in community
